Beryl Watson Cline

Beryl Watson Cline, 86, of Alvin, TX passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 22, 2018.He was born August 16, 1931 to Laurence Cline and Elizabeth Dillon Cline in Northbranch, KS.

He was a beloved, long-time veterinarian in Alvin, serving northern Brazoria County for almost 50 years. Beryl liked singing, hunting, telling stories and jokes, and playing any kind of sports. He loved the Lord, his family and those in his wide circle of good friends.He enjoyed friendly competition, and had an easy laugh, an abundant generosity and a kind spirit. In midlife, Beryl developed a passion for learning Spanish and really put his heart into it, seeking out those who would help him hone his speaking skills. He was active in the Friendswood Friends Church beginning in 1940, and coached the high school Bible Quiz Team to a national championship. Beryl served for many years on the Alvin ISD Board of Trustees, was active in leadership in the Alvin Chamber of Commerce, and achieved 50 years of perfect attendance in the Alvin Rotary Club, of which he was very proud.Over the years, Beryl was honored by these and other organizations for his fine leadership, good character and great work ethic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence Byron Cline and Elizabeth Dillon Cline and his step-mother Helen Powell Cline, and by his brother Conrad Wanton Cline.

Beryl is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret (Tschopp), his four children Charles Cline, Marsha (Warren) Holleman, Charlotte (Robert) Orr, and Paula (Daniel) Diepenbrock, his eleven grandchildren Beryl Cline II, Marie Cline (Arturo) Delgado, Dillon Cline, Annie Holleman, Tom Holleman, Jennifer Orr, Collins Orr, Kelley Orr, George (Lindsey) Diepenbrock, Ted (Lindsey) Diepenbrock and Margaret (Nicolas) Porter, and three great-grandchildren Will Diepenbrock, Leigh Diepenbrock and Graham Diepenbrock, as well as sister-in-law Carol Cline Vaughn and her children Byron (Jackie), Conrad (Phyllis), Karen (Bob) and Bruce (Sharon) and many other relatives and cherished friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Friendswood Friends Church, 502 S. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 with Rev. Bobby Dale Kirkpatrick officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Friendswood Friends Church, 502 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546.
