Wendell Gearld "Bud" Hogan

Birth: Oct. 6, 1936
Pumphrey
Runnels County
Texas, USA
Death: Jan. 20, 2018
Belton
Bell County
Texas, USA

Wendell Gearld "Bud" Hogan was born on a farm outside of Winters, Texas, on October 6, 1936, to Snow and Faye Hogan. He had four brothers, Winford, Weldon, John and James and one sister, Judy. He attended elementary school in Pumphrey and went on to graduate from high school in Winters. He was in the Corps and graduated from Texas A & M, class of 1959.

Bud moved to Plainview Texas after college and soon thereafter met Wilma Measles at the Trio Rebel drive in. After a whirlwind romance, they married on March 17, 1962 and had two daughters, Lana and Jana, while in Plainview. Bud worked in sales his entire career, primarily related to agriculture, as it was the closest to farming that Wilma would allow.

Bud and Wilma moved to Munday in 1986 and Bud worked in Knox City for Riverside/Terra. After retiring, he went on to do crop consulting and ran W.W. Hogan escort service helping deliver wind turbines across the country. Bud and Wilma attended Believers’ Chapel where Bud generously shared his gum and wisdom with all takers each week.

Bud put up a good fight but in the end, it was his decision to stop fighting. On Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 4:07 a.m. he took his last breath and joined his savior and his sweetheart.

Bud was a man who loved his family well. He was generous beyond measure, a loyal friend and a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. His loss in our lives is immeasurable but we know heaven has gained its most candid commentator and is richer for it.

A visitation will be held at 5PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the funeral home. (130 N Birch) Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Munday. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
