Resided in Dallas, Texas
Donald Everett Franks was born February 8, 1937 and grew up in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, TX. Don attended Sunset High School, class of 1955, before graduating from Texas A&M in 1960 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Don married Marjorie
Anne Johnson on November 27, 1958 and they were married 59 years. Don and Margie moved to San Diego, CA where he obtained a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State College while working for General Dynamics in 1960. After moving back
to Dallas in 1966 with their daughter Ruthanne, Don began working for Texas Instruments and remained there for 13 years. Children Franki Grace, Suzanne Elaine, and Wendell William were born and the family moved to Richardson/North Dallas communities. Don went
on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas in 1982. Don continued his aeronautic engineering career and love of space exploration with General Dynamics in Ft. Worth, Lockheed Martin, Superconducting Super Collider, and Bell
Helicopter where he retired.
Outside of work, Don prioritized God, his family, friends, and his church FUMCR where he and Margie taught Children's Sunday School for 25 years. Family and faith meant the most to Don, as did being a husband, father, and grandfather. Family gatherings were
his favorite and most joyful pastime.
