W.L. Trice, Jr. formally of Knox City, Texas and most recently of Weatherford, Texas passed away February 16, 2018, at the age of 95 at his home, 1405 W. Water, Weatherford, TX 76086. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in O'Brien with Rev. Paul Chambers officiating and Brother Bruce Bolling and Lynn Crosslin assisting. Interment will take place immediately following at the Knox City Cemetery in Knox City under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Born to William Lonzo Trice, Sr., and Frankie Mae (Bristow) Trice on August 27, 1922 in Dublin, TX. W.L. attended school in Dublin, TX, Jr. college at John Tarleton Jr. college in Stephenville, TX, Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII during which time his father passed away. W.L. being a soul surviving son was given an honorable discharge to care for his mother and two sisters still at home. After selling the family farm, W.L. returned to A&M to graduate in January 1948 with a degree in Agricultural Science. W.L. then went to work for the Texas Dept. of Agriculture as an agent in Hale and Shackleford counties. While in Albany, he met and married his wife of 65 years Evelyn Irene (Garvin) Trice. After about a year of marriage he answered the call from God to preach the Gospel. They then moved to Fort Worth, TX to attend Soutwestern Theological Seminary where he received a master degree in Theology and began pastoring churches for 55 years. Evelyn and W.L. were blessed to have three children, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

One Son, John Mark Trice married to Gena (Fisher) Trice of Sanger, Texas;

Two daughters, Renda (Trice) Carlton, married to Walter Carlton of Weatherford, Texas, and Ruthie (Trice) Acree, married to Bob Acree of Knox City, Texas.

John and Gena have one son, Josh Trice of Cumming, GA and one daughter, Jaqi Trice of Fort Worth, Texas.

Renda and Walter have one son, Casey Carlton of Arlington, Texas, and three daughters, Marti Gresham of Stephenville, Texas, Jodi Sprinkle of Midland, Texas and Toni Smith of Springtown Texas.

Ruthie and Bob have one son, Matthew Acree, of Knox City, Texas.

Survived by two sisters, Mavis Alexander of Corinth, Mississippi, and Rosalyn Jones of Lampasas, TX.

Bill has been living in Weatherford, Texas with their daughter Renda for the last several years so she could attend his health needs.

Bill attended Harmony Baptist Church and Community Baptist in Weatherford, Texas.

W.L. (Bill) Trice, Jr. served as pastor to several Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado churches, including First Baptist churches of Lueders, Hawley, O'Brien and Trinity Baptist Stamford. Bill offered to many strangers and acquaintances the plan of salvation of their souls and peace with God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Bill was loved by all as a sweet godly man that loved God, Church, Family, and the lost.
