November 12, 1930 – February 2, 2018

Jack Dean Price, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend died Friday, February 2, 2018. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers Bryan-College Station.

Jack was born in Maryville, Missouri to Carl H. and Opal M. (Ramey) Price. Jack received his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education, Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition and Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Jack served a twenty-one month tour of duty in the United States Army. He received a second Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Entomology. He was also a member of the A&M United Methodist Church.

Following five years with the Texas Feed and Fertilizer Control Service, Jack was employed for three years with the Agricultural Analytical Service where he also served as an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry. Jack retired in 1990 following twenty-five years with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. He then enjoyed farming and gardening in Northeast Texas for a period of ten years. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Jack is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Jean Snyder Price; his children: Jack Price (Julie), Cynthia Parker (Danny) and Carla Duffard (Wes); daughter-in law: Pam Price; five grandchildren: Lauren Price Smith (Nate), Evan Price, Diane Duffard, Megan Duffard Cangelose (Nick) and Jordan Duffard; one great-grandchild: Audrey Jean Smith, and many extended family members and friends. His parents and a sister precede him in death.

In deference to Jack’s wishes, formal services are not planned. As a Memorial, he has asked that family and friends perform an act of kindness or make a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A private memorial gathering to celebrate Jack’s life will be held for family and friends at a date and location to be determined.
