Dr. Clyde Sydney Greenlees passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 80 after a brief illness. Clyde lived in many places throughout his life, but was most recently a 15-year resident of McAllen, Texas where he worked for South Texas College as a professor in the Department of Sociology. Clyde, was born on February 12, 1937 in Cameron, Texas to Clyde Sydney Greenlees Sr. and Edna Merle Deer. His siblings include Joe Frank Greenlees of Kissimmee, Florida, Frank Prothro Greenlees of San Marcos, Texas, and Billie Merle Barton of Ingleside, Texas. In 1957, Clyde married high school sweetheart Geneva Ann Swartz in Premont, Texas. His children with Geneva include Julie Marie Fariss Boyd of Burnet, Texas, Amy Jo Counts of Smithwick, Texas, Samuel Corey Greenlees of Lubbock, Texas, Lori Ann Forman of Mason, Texas, and Bonnie Merlee Rodriguez of Temple, Texas. In 1977, Clyde married Julia Ann Kirby in Marble Falls, Texas. Clyde's children with Julia Ann include Robert Boyd Marton III (deceased), Shellie Renae Broyles of Fulshear, Texas, Harvey Wayne Galik of Richmond, Texas and Matthew Wade Greenlees of Austin, Texas. Graduating Valedictorian of his high school class, Clyde went on to graduate from Texas A&I University in 1960 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After working for Reynolds Aluminum in Corpus Christi, Texas and Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Clyde went to work for Consolidated Aluminum Corp (CONALCO) in Waverly, Tennessee where he ended his successful engineering career in 1972 to enter into private business back in his home state of Texas. Two decades later, Clyde would complete a Master's Degree in Sociology at Texas A&I University before going on to attain a coveted Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 1996 from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Shortly afterward, Clyde began a beloved career in higher education at South Texas College where, as well as working as a professor, he served on the South Texas College Subcommittee for Strategic Planning and chaired the South Texas College Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment initiative. Clyde is survived by his children, Julie Marie Fariss Boyd, Amy Jo Counts, Samuel Corey Greenlees, Lori Ann Forman, Bonnie Merlee Rodriguez, Shellie Renae Broyles, Harvey Wayne Galik, Matthew Wade Greenlees, and 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his second wife, Julia Ann Kirby-Greenlees, third wife, Margarita Tagle-Greenlees, child Robert Boyd Marton III, grandchild Aubrey Clayton Fariss, and beloved pet Little Bit. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home.
