David Gerald Veteto was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 1, 1952 to Maxine Steinle Veteto and Hearol Ray Veteto.

Gerald grew up in Poteet, Texas and graduated from Poteet High School in 1970. He attended Texas A&M University until his Senior year then went on to graduate from The University of Texas in 1975. Afterwards Gerald attended St. Mary’s University to complete his teacher certification. At Highlands he found another passion, coaching boys soccer, and lead his talented group of players to playoffs. In 2007, he was voted by The Express News as Soccer Coach of the Year.

In 2009, he began his most rewarding and fulfilling job as a grandfather, Poppy. Traveling to Fort Worth, Austin, and California became the norm. His last big trip was to Disneyland in June with his five youngest grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his dad and brother Bryan Veteto. He is survived by his mother, Maxine Veteto; his wife, Lisa Veteto; his children Jessica (Jodie) Reese, David (Casie) Veteto, and Erin (Chris) Salfiti; his siblings Laura (Kyle) Mikolajczyk, Diane (Alan) Garner, Mark (Faith) Veteto, Kyanne Hoak as well as his grandchildren Carleigh Reese, McKinley Reese, Claire Veteto, Brindley Reese, Dean Veteto, Hudson Reese, and Jordan Salfiti.
