Robert HURSEY
HURSEY, Dr. Robert (Bob) Allan
March 20, 1936 - January 7, 2018
Dr. Robert (Bob) Hursey of Calgary passed away at the age of 81 years. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Roberta, and daughters Alexandrea, Barbara (Douglas) Mitchell and Cathrine (Stewart) Lapierre and five grandchildren: Callum, Lara, Hannah,
Isaac and Jocelyn.
A keen outdoorsman with a Master's from Texas A&M and Ph.D. from the University of Idaho, Bob championed both Native Americans and women in science, most notably during his time at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. Having fallen in love with
Canada while doing field research, he never regretted moving his young family here in 1975. While not a pilot during his active service with the USAF, Bob earned his private pilot's licence at 52. Should you be so inclined, please donate generously to your
local aviation museum.
