Wilburn C. Coe, 89, of Bryan passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon January 13, 2018, at Hudson Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Bryan.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20 at Central Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. A private graveside will be held at Bryan City Cemetery.

Wilburn was born in Temple, Texas and shortly after moved with parents to Bryan where he lived until his death. He attended Bryan Public Schools, and graduated from Bryan High School. Wilburn also attended Texas A&M University for two years. He served in the National Guard for several years. After leaving school and marrying Melba, he studied electronics and became an electronics repair technician. He started into business in 1953, and eventually owned five electronics stores and repair shops. He sold his last two businesses in 1996 and retired.

During most of his life he also owned a small farm and second home which he loved and spent many enjoyable hours working on as a hobby until about three years ago when his health intervened. Wilburn was a charter member of the Bryan Evening Lions Club for 61 years and served in most all of the Clubs officer positions over the years for which he was so dedicated. Wilburn and Melba were also quite active in camping and traveling as much as time and health permitted. They were both lifelong members of Central Baptist Church. Wilburn was a loving and helping person and will be greatly missed.

Wilburn is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hersey and Bertha Coe; his first love and wife of 50 years, Melba J. Coe; infant sister, Doris Jane Coe; brother, Norman Coe; sister, Virginia Lee Holloman; and a brother-in-law, Duard Davidson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Dena Franklin Coe; daughter and son-in-law, Eileen (Coe) and Kyle Burleson; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Tina Coe; sisters and brother-in-law, Joy Davidson, Artie Faye and Horace Manning; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Cara Coe, Donald Ray and Cathey Coe; sister-in-law, Joan Coe; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Wilburn is also survived by two stepsons, Randy Franklin and wife Debra, and Jim Franklin and wife Monica; six step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.

The Coe family wishes to thank Hospice Brazos Valley and the staff of Hudson Creek Alzheimer's Special Unit, for the loving care Wilburn received during his journey through his illness.

We would like to recognize and thank two special women who were caregivers for our dad. Betty Young with Hudson Creek and Rontavia Dunn his private caregiver. They gave him kind and loving care that our family will always remember.
