Charles Wayne Adams of Fort Worth, Texas met his heavenly father on January 12, 2018 at the age of 68, while on a scuba diving trip with his son in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was born February 19, 1949 in Tyler, Texas to parents Milton and Margie (Gimble) Adams.
Charles attended Tyler public schools graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1967. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1971. While in college, he served in the Corps of Cadets, Company C-2 and upon graduation in 1971 was commissioned into the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers Branch, as a 2nd Lt. His service extended over eight years in the active and inactive reserves.
Following his military service, Charles was employed by the H.B. Zachry Company and his first project was the construction of the DFW Airport. He spent 22 years with Zachry and during this time obtained his Professional Engineering License. On January 31, 1994, he joined Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc. and remained at Mario Sinacola for the past 23 years.
Charles was married to the love of his life Janet Mitchell Adams on February 25, 1983. He met Janet on a blind date, proposed on their third date and they were married 28 days later. They have two children, Rachelle Adams Schumacher and Christopher David Adams.
Charles was a devoted believer in Christ and enjoyed many activities including golf, fishing, scuba diving, traveling, watching Texas Aggie football and Texas Ranger baseball. He was a member of Gateway Church in Southlake, TX and a monthly blood donor at Carter Blood Care. His actions were the epitome of selflessness and his heart was that of a servant. He was always helping others and was most generous with the giving of his time and resources. Charles loved his family beyond measure and treasured his time with them, especially, with his granddaughter, Katelynn. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janet Mitchell Adams, daughter Rachelle Adams Schumacher and husband Matt (Ft. Worth), son Chris Adams (Ft. Worth), granddaughter, Katelynn Schumacher (Ft. Worth), brothers Gary Adams and wife Carol Ann (Tyler) and Danny Adams and wife Sandy (Tyler), father-in-law Cleo Mitchell (Watauga), brother-in-law Gary Mitchell and wife Karen (Tulsa), and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Margie (Gimble) Adams and his mother in law, Betty Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Rob Adams, Cory Rutledge, Josh Adams, Ross Adams, Colton Adams, and Carson Adams.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 6p.m.-8p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home (5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, TX 76034). The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist of Colleyville (5300 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034). Interment at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. (2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211).
