Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Merritt
April 13, 1947 - January 5, 2018

Tom Merritt, 70, of Wichita Falls, died Friday, January 5, 2018, in Norman, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Crestview Memorial Park with Dr. Bob McCartney officiating; arrangements under direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at visitation from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14 at Lunn’s.

Son of the late Maud and Walter W. Merritt, Tom was born April 13, 1947, in Corsicana, Texas, and was a Wichita Falls High School and Texas A&M graduate; a proud Aggie.
Tom was a business planner to small businesses to educate and train personnel in effective communication and was a Reserve Teacher for the Wichita Falls Independent School District for the last 18 years. Active in civic duties, he was past President of League of Women Voters and past president of Gideon International Wichita Falls Camp (Archer, Clay, Wichita, and Young counties) and spoke regularly in their prison ministry. He was past Public Relations Chairman for Texas and Oklahoma Kiwanis International, and panel speaker with the Vice President of the United Nations discussing Texas/Oklahoma Kiwanis impact on international economies. He was a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) in Communication & Leadership, past VP of Camp Fire USA, Wichita Falls, and featured speaker at the Texas Oil and Gas association Desk and Derrick Club on effective business communication.

Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a twin brother, Terry Merritt, in 2016. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Di and Bill Honey, Norman Oklahoma.
