Ronald Ray Rinnert

April 26, 1933 - January 8, 2018

New Boston, Texas

Brother Ronald Ray Rinnert, age 84 of New Boston, Texas passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 in a local nursing facility. Bro. Rinnert was born April 26, 1933 in the home of Zoa May McGee Rinnert and Lowell Rinnert in Boston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Rinnert and one sister, Wilma Dean Rinnert Looney of New Boston and his three nieces, Alice Ann Looney McLelland, Leslie Looney Williams, and Lisa Looney and several great nieces and nephews.

Ronald Ray grew up on Rinnert Poultry Farm and Hatchery at Boston, Texas and worshipped in the downtown old Tapp Methodist Church. He attended New Boston schools from first through the twelfth grade skipping the fourth grade because that was the year another grade was added to high school to make twelve. He loved Future Farmers of America and served them well by becoming their very first state officer when he was elected Vice President of the State FFA. His Agriculture teacher, Mr. J.M. Addison, encouraged him to enroll in Texas A & M at College Station where Ron majored in Animal Husbandry and was in the R.O.T.C. where he graduated as a second lieutenant in 1954. He then entered the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Eglin Air Base in Florida for a while, and then was shipped to Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.

While serving on Okinawa Ron felt a call from God to become a missionary with Christians in Action. He was able to get an honorable discharge while still there on Okinawa. He did come back to the states just long enough to study at the headquarters of Christians in Action to get his license to become a minister, and at the same time met and married Elaine Estelle Haley who was from California. They married September 1961 and then went to Okinawa and served together for 24 years as missionaries mainly to the Marines. While they were there they started three churches and several Coffee Shops in the downtown bar area. In 1981 Ron and Elaine came to New Boston still as a part of Christians in Action where he became employed as a Greeter at Walmart, and Elaine worked as an activity director in local nursing homes. During the time he was in New Boston he answered the call to go out into the streets and preach the Gospel by pulling the cross in parades and going to festivals within a 65 mile radius of home with his cross. He also enjoined participating in the MARCH for JESUS each year. He served the Lord well.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 12, 2018 at Tapp United Methodist Church, New Boston with Tommy Earl Burton officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M.
