John A. duMenil died on January 4, 2018 at the age of 60. The son of Arthur A. duMenil and Dorothy M. (Kunze) duMenil, he was born on December 8, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas.

John graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School (San Antonio, Texas) in 1975 and received a bachelor degree in Physical Education from Texas A&M University in 1986. His interests pointed him towards information technology and he worked in that world for several years. More recently, he was serving as a special education bus assistant for the Northside Independent School District Transportation Department. He made many friends in that role and made a difference in the children's lives that he worked with. He never missed the opportunity to gather with his friends and co-workers for breakfast tacos.

John's adult life was tormented by a sickness known as obsessive compulsive disorder or commonly referred to as OCD. The severity of his OCD often prevented John from being truly recognized for the loving and compassionate man that he was, as can be testified to by the children that were an important part of his life.

John is preceded in death by his Father and Mother as well as his sister, Cheryl Ann Bendele. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Rebecca Young and her husband, Nathan, and son, Grady Cooper, and Lindsey Elizabeth duMenil. He is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Page and her husband Richard; and brother, Joseph (Joe) duMenil '75, and his aunt, uncle, niece, nephew and great niece and nephews.

The Holy Rosary will be offered for the repose of John's soul at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Porter Loring North Chapel. A funeral mass will be offered at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Leon Springs at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 18, 2018. The committal services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
