PATRICK H. SUMBERA

HOUSTON - Patrick H. Sumbera, 81, of Houston, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. He was born on Thursday, August 6, 1936 in LaGrange, Texas to Henry and Annie Hajovsky Sumbera. On Saturday, August 17, 1957 he married the love of his life, Geraldine R. Dusek in Inez, Texas. Patrick is survived by his wife Geraldine, their two sons; Dennis G. Sumbera and his wife Margaret of Tomball, Texas and Michael W. Sumbera of Houston, Texas, their two daughters; Peggy Lowrey of Kennewick, Washington, and Deborah Harlan and her husband John of Leander, Texas, their six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his brother Malcom Sumbera and three sisters; Barbara Jones, Kathleen Jennings and Henrietta Lumpkins. Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law Johnny Jones.

There will be a visitation on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5:pm to 7:pm at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel. On Saturday morning, December 16, 2017, beginning at 9:am, visitation will resume at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Inez. Rosary will begin at 9:30 am, with Funeral Mass beginning at 10:am with Father Barnabas Kyeah officiating. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Patrick's honor to the Texas Heart Institute or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Patrick H. Sumbera, 81, of Houston, passed away December 13, 2017. He was born on August 6, 1936 to Henry & Annie Hajovsky Sumbera in Holman, TX. He married Geraldine R. Dusek on August 17, 1957 in Inez,TX. Patrick graduated from Texas A&M University in 1958 in College Station, TX.

Patrick is survived by: wife, Geraldine of Houston, TX; 2 sons, Dennis G. Sumbera & wife Margaret of Tomball, TX, and Michael W. Sumbera of Houston, TX; 2 daughters, Peggy Lowrey of Kennewick, WA, and Deborah Harlan & husband John of Leander, TX; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Malcolm Sumbera; 3 sisters, Barbara Jones, Kathleen Jennings, and Henrietta Lumpkins; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law Johnny Jones.

Funeral Mass Service was held on 10 am, Saturday, December 16, 2017, at St Joseph Catholic Church of Inez. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Patrick's honor to the Texas Heart Institute or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
