Travis Weldon Dossey Sr., 87, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in Arlington, Texas following a brief illness.
A visitation for Travis will be held Monday, December 18, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas. A burial will occur at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
Memorials may be made to Mission Arlington.

Travis Weldon Dossey, Sr. was born October 19, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from Arlington Heights High School in 1947, he went on to graduate from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in 1952 with a degree in Math and Physics. Weldon served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He began his military service at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey, then White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico and finally on the island of Okinawa. At White Sands, he was in charge of a Guided Missile Radar Tracking System. On Okinawa, Weldon was in charge of a long-range radio receiving site, and received military messages from all over the world.

He has been an Arlington, Texas resident and member of First Baptist Church of Arlington from 1954 to 1961 and from 1963 to present. He was a member of the Texas A&M Former Students Association and Fort Worth, Tarrant County A&M Club. He retired January 1, 1991 as a District Manager with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Dallas, completing 38 years of service.
Weldon was always disciplined and practical, but with a wonderful sense of humor. When he was about 4 years old, he took his mother's watch apart to see what made it tick, ruining it of course. Weldon also had a very strong sense of integrity and was very loyal to his friends and family. He had the same best friend for 80 years, William Benson Stroud, of Graham, Texas. Weldon was a great student and was valedictorian of his 8th grade class. In high school, he was in the National Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was a proud veteran as well. Starting with ROTC in high school and registering for the military draft at age 18. He served willingly after graduating from Texas A&M because he felt it was his duty. He loved and supported his family well and showed others kindness, honesty, respect, and usually a good joke or picture of his grandkids. Weldon was a proud Aggie, faithful Christ-follower, and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survivors: Wife of 66 years, Jeannine Godby Dossey of Arlington; Son and daughter-in-law, T. Weldon Dossey, Jr. and Siana Sconyers Dossey of Dennis, Texas; grandchildren Bree Chasteen and husband, Clint of Irving Texas; Jenna Dossey of Dennis Texas; Daughter, Jeanne Dossey Byers of Columbus Ohio; Grandsons, Paul Byers of Columbus, Ohio and Neil Byers of Harrison, Ohio; Son and daughter in law, Jeffrey A Dossey and Rebecca Barnes Dossey of Arlington, Texas; Grandchildren, Erin Dossey Evans and husband, Jeff Evans of Arlington, Brett Travis Dossey and wife, Kathryn Yaggi Dossey of Plano, Kyle Benjamin Dossey and wife Rachel Broussard Dossey of Arlington. One great-grandson, Tucker Morgan.
