MORAN, TX

Marvin Dale Kays, age 86, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Hendrick Medical Center, in Abilene, Texas.

Services are scheduled at Moran Cemetery, Moran, Texas, at 2:00PM, Saturday, December 2, 2017, with Reverend Jack Clack and Reverend James Martin officiating.

Marvin was born in Hammon, Oklahoma, on June 15, 1931, to L.C. and Ruby Kays.

He was graduated from Moran High School, his Bachelors and Masters of Science from Texas A&M University, and a Doctorate of Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Oklahoma.

Marvin served in the US Air Force and retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel. He served his country stationed in Greenland, Wisconsin, and finally White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, where he continued to work for the government as a citizen.

After retirement from White Sands, Marvin and Lorea, his wife of 63 years, returned to their hometown of Moran, where he served as Mayor, and in various other capacities to keep himself busy.

He was very active as an officer and member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and the First Methodist Church.

His death is predated by his mother and father, his brother Kenneth and sister Ruth, and his loving wife, Lorea Thomas Kays.

Survivors include his son John Kays, of Moran, Texas, his daughter Kristi Dunbar, her husband Craig Dunbar, and his grandson, Ryan Dunbar, all of Keller, Texas, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be sent to The First Methodist Church of Moran, Texas.
