LTC (Retired) Jack W. Japp
October 30, 1931 - November 14, 2017

Funeral service for LTC (Retired) Jack W. Japp will be at 3:30 pm Friday, November 17, 2017 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Jones, Pastor, Mt. Zion Christian Church, Broxton, OK and Terry Marsh, Minister, Carriage Hills Christian Church, Lawton officiating.

Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Jack W. Japp, 86, Lawton passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in a Lawton hospital. He was born September 30, 1931 in Lawton to John Fred and Opal Irene (Crain) Japp. He attended Lawton schools where he marched in the bands from elementary school until he graduated from Lawton High. He attended Texas A&M University for two years where he marched in the band. He later attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, where he marched in the band and graduated with a BS Degree in Physics and Math in May of 1954. He married Joyce E. Lee on August 29, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Lawton. Jack joined the Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He then served in the active reserves for 28 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Jack retired as an Engineer with PSO in 1992 after 38 years of service. He was a Professional Engineer. He was a Mason and member of Triangle Lodge #548. Jack and Joyce loved traveling the world, were active members of Carriage Hills Christian Church, he was a member of the Knife and Fork Club, Friends of the Wichita’s and was very involved with Giddy-Up-N-Go in Lawton. Jack enjoyed fishing and his farm, the Circle-J.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Japp of the home, two daughters; Junetta Bradley of Houston, TX, Julie Swofford of Lawton, four grandchildren; Jeffrey Bradley of Houston, TX, Jack Hershel Swofford of Lawton, Brandi Swofford of St. Louis, MO, Jeremy Bradley of Houston, TX and numerous other cousins, relatives and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons-in-law; Steve Bradley and SSG (Ret) Terry Swofford.
