Lloyd Prentice Nelson, 96, of Houston, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Houston. He was born in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, on May 9, 1921 to the late Adeline and Jasper Nelson.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Doris, and eleven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his sons, Randall Nelson and David Nelson; grandchildren, Walter Nelson, Tara Nelson and Tracy Nelson Camacho; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He served as a US Navy aviator during World War II, and subsequently earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M. He worked in refining and marketing for Mobil Oil for over 40 years, retiring in 1986.
A Celebration of Lloyd's Life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Saturday, November 25 at 2:00 pm; Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
