George William Doering
August 26, 1936 - November 6, 2017

George William Doering, 81 of Greeley, passed away at his home on November 6, 2017. George was born August 26, 1936 to William Ferdinand and Erna Laura (Braun) Doering. George married Gayle Green on April 4, 1958.

George graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1959 and a Master’s degree in Entomology in 1960. He worked at Texas A&M University Experiment Station during his post-graduate years of study. He consulted as an entomologist for cotton farmers in the Brazos bottoms around College Station for several years. He started a PhD in Entomology at Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, for one semester before going back to his consulting business in College Station, TX.

In 1963 George began working for Monsanto and moved to Amarillo, TX, to run the fertilizer business in the Panhandle. In 1967 he became a partner in purchasing Balcom Chemicals in Greeley, CO. In 1969 he joined forces with a company in Nebraska owned by John Anderson. This became the basis for the growth that eventually became United Agri Products when it became part of ConAgra. George spent time traveling as an executive of ConAgra until his retirement in 1995.

George is survived by his wife, Gayle; children, Chris, Steve, David and Beth; grandchildren, Dustin, Sarah, Michael, Allyson, Drew, Katie, Alex, Will, Jackson, George, Anthony, Chris, Pablo; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Hudson, Maisie and Jett.
