Margaret Nance of Corpus Christi, passed away October 20, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Margaret was born in 1927 to Rozena and Dr. John McDaniel in San Antonio, Texas. While attending Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Texas State University), Margaret met her future husband to be, Frank Nance. After graduating with their B.S. degrees, they were married December 1947. They then made a decision that changed their lives the next spring. Margaret and Frank decided to stop their pursuit of their Master's degrees and for Frank to become part of the newly formed military branch, the U.S. Air Force.

Over the next 21 years, they lived in many exciting places including Iran, Spain, Guam, Wyoming and Washington, D.C. Due to her love of travel and the outdoors, she took part in many excursions. While in Iran, she had the unique experience of getting to climb Mt. Demavand, one of the highest volcanos in Asia. She also picked up new languages at each of these locations. This proved invaluable in Washington, D.C., where she taught English to several of the Embassy employees' children.

It was only upon coming to Corpus Christi, that Margaret started her career as a science teacher for CCISD. She continued her upper education and earned a MSEd in geology at Texas A&M University, College Station. Margaret volunteered for the American Association of University Women - AAUW Book Finders for over 40 years. Additionally, she volunteered for 24 years in the natural history group at CC Museum of Science and History. She always enjoyed reading, learning new ideas and skills and sharing these with others. Margaret' lifelong passions were travel, reading, art, volunteering, friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend.
