P. Eng., FASME, Darren Lee Stang, surrounded by his loving family members passed away peacefully in Seattle Washington on October 21, 2017 at the age of 54.
Darren is survived by his wife Pamela Marie Stang; Children, Lana Marie Tracy, Grandchildren, Kayden Lee Kercher, Kayne Robert Kercher, loving sister, Connie Isaac and her husband Ken Isaac of Millet Alberta. Nephew, Mark Isaac and his wife Aimee Isaac and children, Nieces, Christine Isaac, Corinne Driedger and her husband Bill Driedger. He will be lovingly missed by many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Mavis Marie Stang, Brother Barry Stang, Father, Wilfred Stang and Niece, Baby Carmen.
Darren was born on May 30, 1963 in Edmonton, Alberta to Mavis and Wilfred Stang. Darren was the youngest of their three children. Darren graduated in 1983 from the University of Alberta, with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He continued his education at Texas A & M University in College Station TX. In 1985, he graduated Tau Beta Pi, Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. Darren’s career began in Edmonton, Alberta working as a design Engineer, engaging in new product development of oil field equipment, specifically hydraulic/mechanical drilling jars. Darren’s career advanced with Griffith Oil Tool as company Compliance Engineer for products manufactured to American Petroleum Institute API standards. Darren moved to Seattle WA. in 1989 and began working as Principal Project Engineer for FlowDril Corporation, where he was engaged in the design, development and testing of a novel US Patent high-pressure intensifier style pump. In 1999 Darren joined OMAX Corporation, progressing to Vice President of Engineering, leading his team in research and product development, completing his career with Omax as Principal Systems Engineer, and as a leading technical authority in the field of high pressure technology. Darren was recognized with many prestigious awards, one of his proudest being the esteemed appointment of Fellow within the ASME organization.
In his younger years, Darren attained Provincial Championship standing in the 100 meter hurdles representing Strathcona High School in Edmonton Alberta. His adventurous spirit was expressed through his passion for fast cars, travel, and infinite knowledge of all things. Darren was an avid scuba diver, passionate wildlife conservationist and environmentalist; which effected the future of our planet through his life work and generosity to the cause.
Darren married, the love of his life, Pamela Marie Riddle on August 9, 1992. He moved his new wife and daughter, Lana to Covington, WA where for the past 25 years, they shared a life rich in adoration, friendship and tenderness. Darren was a noble yet humble man, devoted to the care of his family. His grandsons brought Darren tremendous joy and his highly principled influence has shaped their lives forever. Darren was an honest and reliable friend and enjoyed the deepest expression of humor and laughter. His wit and intellect awakened the hearts and minds of his family, friends and co-workers. Darren’s essence will be deeply missed. We will hold his memory in our hearts forever. He will never be forgotten.
