Ms. Ebony Marie Lanier
February 3, 1985 - October 21, 2017

Ebony Lanier was born in Texas City, Texas on February 3, 1985 to Ronald Lanier and Frances Lanier Burley. She was raised in a Godly home by her mom Frances and dad, Ecomet Burley and attended New Light Christian Center Church. After graduating from Pearland High School in 2003, Ebony attended Texas A&M University and became a die-heart Aggie and bled maroon. She graduated in the class of 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and a minor in Psychology. She did post graduate work at Lamar University where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Administration. After graduating from Texas, A&M University, she taught English Language Arts at Jeff Davis/Northside High School in Houston ISD for eight years. Ebony was an excellent teacher who was recognized for her students’ success on statewide assessments and for her endearing relationship with her students. As a teacher and cheerleader sponsor, Ebony took an active interest and involvement in the lives of her students. She will be remembered for mentoring students and going beyond the four walls of the “school house” to provide real-life growth experiences for young ladies. Ebony was an assistant principal at Westbury High School at the time of her passing.

Ebony was a traveler who enjoyed the sights of the world with her girlfriends. Ebony was a fun-loving person who never met a stranger and loved celebrating special occasions with family and friends. Giving was her love language and nobody could give and was more thoughtful than Ebony. She had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ebony is survived by her parents Ecomet and Frances Burley, Ronald Lanier, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.
