WELDON BIRDWELL
June 17, 1923 - April 3, 2008

Weldon Birdwell, 84, of Temple died Thursday, April 3, 2008 in a local hospital. Family graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday April 19, 2008 at Caps Cemetery in Abilene, Tx. Mr. Birdwell was born June 17, 1923 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Westley L. and Eva May Hill Birdwell. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor degree in Science. He was veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a P-41 fighter pilot. He retired from the United States Air Force reserve as a Major. He was a registered professional engineer, retiring from the Federal Soil Conservation Service after 35 years. He had been a resident of Temple for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Billie Birdwell of Temple; three sons, Allen Birdwell of Graham, TX., Weldon L. Birdwell of Hawthorn Woods, Ill., and David Birdwell of Burleson, TX; one brother, John Birdwell of Bonham, TX.; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Birdwell. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Capital of Texas Chapter, 3429 Executive Center Drive, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78731 or American Diabetes Association, 2499 Capital of Texas Highway South, Bldg. A, Suite 204, Austin, Texas 78746.
