WELDON BIRDWELL
June 17, 1923 - April 3, 2008
Weldon Birdwell, 84, of Temple died Thursday, April 3, 2008 in a local hospital. Family graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday April 19, 2008 at Caps Cemetery in Abilene, Tx. Mr. Birdwell was born June 17, 1923 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Westley L. and Eva May Hill Birdwell. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor degree in Science. He was veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a P-41 fighter pilot. He retired from the United States Air Force reserve as a Major. He was a registered professional engineer, retiring from the Federal Soil Conservation Service after 35 years. He had been a resident of Temple for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Billie Birdwell of Temple; three sons, Allen Birdwell of Graham, TX., Weldon L. Birdwell of Hawthorn Woods, Ill., and David Birdwell of Burleson, TX; one brother, John Birdwell of Bonham, TX.; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Birdwell.
