Leland Clay White
December 4, 1934 - October 5, 2017
Leland Clay White was born in Poteet, Texas and spent his childhood on a small farm near La Féria, Texas. After graduating from La Féria High School, Leland attended Texas A&M University and received a BS in Petroleum Engineering in 1956. He served as a 1st
Lieutenant in the United States Army for two years and when he returned home from the service, he married his high school sweetheart, Ila Rae Smith on September 3, 1959. He worked as a Petroleum Engineer for a number of different oil companies including Shell
Oil, H.J. Gruy and Associates, Tenneco, and British Petroleum before retiring in 1990. In his retirement years, Leland and Ila Rae enjoyed spending time at their Colorado cabin with their family and friends. He attended Memorial Church of Christ with his family
in Houston where he served for many years as a deacon and then an elder.
He is survived by his wife, Ila Rae; sister Cora Farris, son Clay and wife Andrea, son Joel and wife Cari, grandchildren Justin and wife Seelva; Samantha and husband Ben; Garrett, Amy, Joshua, and Hanna; great-grandchildren Myla, William and Lily; and many
nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his two brothers Glen and Phillip White.
