Luke Edward Wade
May 18, 1979 ~ October 18, 2017 (age 38)

What can be said about Luke?

Luke was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Friday, May 18, 1979. As a baby Luke was baptized a Catholic Christian; as a boy he received the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. During preschool and the early elementary years Luke attended Ascension Day School.

During his childhood Luke began an enduring association with video games (he was regularly recruited as an opponent by an adult friend of the family!) and sports: soccer, t-ball, and Little League baseball.

When Luke was 3ish and his Sister Jamie was 18 months they were both found in her baby bed covered from head to toe in baby powder as they continued to try to make it snow more….

In the spring of 1989 Luke moved with his family to Houston, Texas. He completed elementary school in CFISD at Lowery, junior high at Labay, and high school at Cypress-Falls in 1997. Luke was always a good student and qualified early for admission to Texas A&M University.

In Houston Luke continued his participation in sports. He played basketball and won a free-throw competition; he played three baseball seasons annually, usually as catcher. In high school Luke switched to inline/roller hockey and was recruited as goalie for an ice hockey club team. With his dad Luke traveled nationally and to Mexico and Canada. Luke continued to play in-line hockey at Texas A&M on a club team; again, usually as goalie, always on defense. Luke committed some of his part-time earnings from Outback Steakhouse to a custom paint job on his goalie helmet: a tribute to the Aggie bonfire tradition and to those killed or injured working to build "the stack" in 1999.

During Luke's nine-year college career he had a two-year detour through California as a Spanish-speaking missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was when he returned to College Station that Luke worked at Outback Steakhouse, progressing from busser through take-away to waitstaff until his graduation in the spring of 2006. After college Luke entered construction project management, in both the commercial and residential markets, 100's of houses in Houston and Austin. In his work, Luke routinely called upon his Spanish-language skills to communicate with laborers.

Luke was good looking, intelligent, articulate, humble, sturdy and stoic, principled, loyal, compassionate, generous, fun-loving, big-hearted, kind-hearted, bear-hugging, patriotic. When around Luke you could catch his contagious smile and laugh. Luke held in high esteem those who serve and have served in law enforcement and the United States Armed Forces. Luke was "not the loudest voice in the room, but quietly funny. Funny!" -Jamie

Luke mostly drove pickup trucks, two stand out, 1 he used to go mudding in and another you almost needed a ladder to climb on in…., Luke and the bank just bought his first Jeep about 3 months ago, he started a new job with full benefits two days before……..

Luke always, but especially in the last 18 months when needed most, Luke demonstrated total support helping his Mom with his Dad. Luke listened, researched and read and knew all about what was going on. I could lean on him -Dad

Luke loved his family, his Aggie brothers, his friends, and his canine and feline companions, and spending time with them all, preferably laughing his great laugh, particularly at dog/cat videos that he shared regularly. Luke had great fun getting creative for Halloween as Mr. T or Hulk Hogan, but especially with group theme costumes: Super Troopers, Lego Village People. Luke was "The Biker."

Over the years Luke had serious romantic relationships with several lovely, young women, but had not yet become a husband or father… to his great disappointment, but he knew he still had time.

During recent years Luke had setbacks and extreme challenges as life can deliver ... more than his share. Yet he persevered, sometimes truly struggling ... but never giving up.

Luke has now laid down all anxiety and fear, sorrow and suffering, struggle and pain, tears and heartache. Through death he has entered eternal rest and peace. Luke has moved on; he has gone ahead. Luke now lives forever with the Lord. Alleluia!

Left behind are Luke's mom Noel, dad Jim and sister Jamie Wade; Grandmother Gloria McLaurin; Maw-Maw Anne Wade; uncles Errol, Jim, Mickey, Fred and Matt; aunts Debbie, Stephanie and Lyn; cousins; his Aggie brothers; Leo the cat; and many friends."Luke touched so many hearts." -Ian

Luke was preceded in death by Paw-Paw Clyde "Rusty" Wade; PaPa Fred Morris; Aunt Lauren Morris; Aunt Betty Anne Wade Wilken; Aunt Judy Morris Schurtz; JimPa McLaurin; Red Velvet "Elvis" and "Jelly" Belly Buddha Boy.

Let it be known that Luke's Mom & Dad always loved and were proud of him. WE have an emptiness now that is unexplainable. Through faith, memories of Luke and the help of his Sister Jamie WE will get through this.

There IS Victory in Jesus! "Forever with the Lord" Until WE meet again.....

The Lord gave, and the Lord took away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. -Job 1:21
