Dr Jim Jordan
November 17, 1931 ~ October 17, 2017 (age 85)

Memorial services will be conducted at The First Baptist Church of Marshall for Dr. James E. Jordan, 85 of Marshall, TX. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Dr. Ryan Berryhill. Visitation will be at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Dr. Jordan was born on November 15, 1931 in County Line, Ok. and entered into rest in Marshall on October 17, 2017. He graduated from Judson high School in 1950. During his years at Judson he was a prominent member of the 4-H Club and the F.F.A. sweeping both the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion title his senior year. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he taught in- flight refueling of the KC-47, General George Lemay attended many of his classes. Jim was honorably discharged in January 1955 as a Staff Sergeant.
After the Air Force Jim attended Texas A&M University graduating in 1958, he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1960. He married the love of his life, Gay LaNelle Wilson of Longview on February 4, 1961, they had 56 wonderful years together.
In 1960 he joined Sanders Veterinary Hospital. As time went on it became Sanders-Jordan Veterinary Clinic and then Jordan-Allred Hospital. After retiring three times Jim established a mobile unit of Jordan Vet Services. Doc Jordan loved his profession and was a servant of 54 years. He supported many youth in the FFA.
Doc Jordan served on the Marshall Harrison Board of Health for 41 years and he was also on the board of the Harrison County Humane Society. He was a member of the AVA, TVA, and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Marshall. In 2004 Doctor Jordan became a faithful member of the Chickasaw Nation.
Some of his most pleasant memories were spent on his Indian Springs Farm with his children and grandchildren. It was his “Stress Free Zone” with his good friend Bob Christy.
Jim died peacefully at home in his sleep and has gone to be with his heavenly Father. Farewell Good and Gentle Doctor, it’s time to move out and take Red Hill.
Doctor Jordan was preceded in death by his parents, Effie Edna and James Earl Jordan; brothers, Snooks Jordan, Buck Jordan; sisters, Mae June Summers and Ethel Lou Barker. He is survived by his loving wife, Gay Jordan; one son, Michael Jordan and wife Wendy; one daughter, Hannah Davis and husband Scott; grandchildren, Lindsey Jordan, 1St LT. Hunter Jordan, U.S. Army, Jordan Davis, Madison Davis, Zachary Davis, Bayli Davis, Justin Brewer, Jordan Brewer, and Kayla Brewer; great- grandchildren, Kye LaNelle, Noelle, and Corwin; honorary granddaughter, Mary Margaret King; brother, Raymond “Pop Corn” Jordan ; sister, Tiajuana Shivers; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Fulbright, Jim Pedison, George Carter, Tony Witlow, Travis Keenan, and Larry Bennett.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lijo John, Dr. Yn Pham, and neighbors, Laura and Bob King for their loving care and friendship.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Marshall, 405 W. Austin, Marshall, and the Harrison County Humane Society- The Pet Place, 1901 Jefferson Ave., Marshall and or the donor’s choice.

Dr. James E. Jordan DVM, class of 1960 passed away October 17, 2017 at his home. He practiced in Marshall, TX for 54 years where he cared for large and small animals. He is survived by his loving wife Gay Jordan, one son Michael Jordan '84 and one daughter Hannah Davis '89. Grandsons Hunter Jordan '15, Jordan Davis '17 and Zack Davis '10, Jordan Brewer and Justin Brewer. Grand daughters Madison Davis, Lindsey Jordan, Bayli Walker, and Kayla Brewer. Other family members Jon Wilson '02, Caroline Wallace Wilson '05. Preceded in death his brother Buck Jordan '51.
