Frank Edward Poole
1926-2017
FRANK EDWARD POOLE, 91 years old and resident of Rockwall, went to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on October 14, 2017. He was born on July 30, 1926 in Houston to John Daniel Poole and Mattie Lou Bingham Poole. He was their first born and has two sisters, Dorothy and Gloria. Frank trusted Christ as his Savior when he was five year old and attended Berachah Church in Houston. When it was time for Frank to attend high school, he chose Sam Houston High School, his father's alma mater. This decision meant he rode a city bus every day. Frank enjoyed playing football in high school and recalled how he often got credit for tackles because he was the only player who used a rope for a belt and tape to hold up his pants. After graduating from high school in February 1944, he attended Texas A&M for one semester before enlisting in the Navy. He served as a machinist between July 29, 1944 to July 27, 1946 on the USS Colbert, USS Typhon and USS Nemasket. He return to A&M after WW2 and was active in Aggie Christian Fellowship. Frank enjoyed attending camp at Double Lake which later became Camp Peniel and made life-long friends.
He graduated from A&M in 1951 with a double degree in Petroleum Engineering and Geology and married the love of his life, Elaine, on June 11, 1951. It wasn't long before Frank and Elaine became proud parents when Kathy was born the next year. His small family moved several times as Frank's career began to take off. There was one extra special Christmas when God blessed Frank and Elaine with twin boys. Tim and Jim were released from hospital just before Christmas day in 1954. Frank continued to work hard for Tenneco Oil and there were still more moves. The Lord had another surprise for them when Susan as born in 1961. We have many fun memories of attending family camp at Horn Creek since 1975.
Frank retired from Tenneco in 1986 after 31 years. He served as a deacon at Tallowood Baptist Church for 20 years. He first became a deacon at West Side Baptist Church in Lafayette, Louisiana and last served as deacon and later as an elder at Weldon Baptist Church. After "retiring", Frank and Elaine spent the next twenty years (1986 to 2006) ranching, traveling with friends and spending time with their grandkids. In June 2006, they moved to Nevada to be closer to family who could help with health issues.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elaine McCambridge Poole; sisters Dorothy Poole Zuckero, and her husband, Sam Zuckero; and Gloria Poole Pearson and her husband, Tom Pearson; children: Kathy and her husband, Doug Jones; Jim and his wife, Kandy; Susan and her husband, Wayne Shell; grandchildren: Julia and her husband, Andrew Bennett; Laurel and her husband, Dan McMillen; Luke Poole; Allison Jones; Isaac Poole and his wife, Kassie; Andrew Shell; Kevin Shell; and Stephanie Shell; great grandchildren: Alyssa Bennett, Brooke Bennett, Josiah Bennett; Drew Bennett; Michael Bennett; Madeline McMillen; Emry Poole; Kate McMillen and Eddie Poole.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Daniel Poole and Mattie Lue Bingham Poole; and his son, Timothy Earl Poole.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Peniel or Horn Creek camp.
