Sandra Wall Peterson
(October 15, 1942 - August 12, 2017)
Sandra Peterson, 74, passed away on August 12th, 2017, at her home in Richmond, TX.
She was born Sandra Gail Wall on October 15, 1942 in Texarkana, TX, to parents Austin and Bertie Wall. She received her degree from Sam Houston State University and finished up her education taking classes at Texas A&M University. She then moved to the Houston area with her husband Richard Peterson where she raised a family and taught high school math. Richard passed in May of 1998. After retiring from teaching, Sandra worked in an insurance office in Rockwall, TX. This is where she was eventually reacquainted with a high school friend, Wally Underwood. They enjoyed several happy years until his death in January of 2007. It was some time afterwards that Sandra met Alfred Assid. They only had 4 short years together but filled it with a lifetime of happiness as they traveled and setup their new home in Richmond. Sandra made many friends in the new neighborhood and often spoke about how much she enjoyed the block parties and other neighborhood activities.
She leaves behind her loving partner, Alfred Assid; her son Dwayne, his wife Valerie and their two sons Ryan and Tyler; her son Greg, his wife Alejandra and their son Lucas. She was predeceased by her brother Austin Wall Jr, and her parents.
Sandra cherished the role of grandmother and took every opportunity to spend time with her grandsons. She also loved her Aggies and watched every Texas A&M game, regardless of the sport.
Memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 19th, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 4th St, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra's memory can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center at gifts.mdanderson.org.
