ROTAN -- JOE BARTLETT ""BART"" STRAYHORN, 81, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Rotan Healthcare Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Rotan with Brother Corkey Wells officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funer- al Home. Born June 23, 1924 in Rotan, Bart was a son of the late John Robert and Vera (Tyson) Strayhorn. Bart was a lifelong resident of Rotan. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in accounting and served in the Army Intelligence during WW II in China. Bart married Betty (Hoffman) Strayhorn, she passed away in 2003. Bart was self-employed as an ac- countant and rancher. He was an avid reader and a member of the Lions Club in Rotan. Bart also served on the Rotan Water Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan. He is preceded in death by his wife and parents. Survivors include one brother, Wallace Strayhorn of Burkbur- nett, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
