Hal S. Kaufman

Hal S. Kaufman, 60, a resident of Manvel, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2017, after a long courageous battle with cancer. His wife, two sons and close family friend Liquita Thompson Lewis were at his side as he peacefully transitioned. Hal was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. We rejoice in knowing that he is now completely healed.

Hal was born on June 11, 1957 in Bronx, New York to Fred and Joan Kaufman (nee Herman). One of four children, he graduated from Texas A &M University with Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. While employed at MD Anderson Cancer Center he worked as a Sr. Architect and Sr. Project Manager.

Hal was sincere, honest, thoughtful, proud, and witty beyond measure. Hal’s children were his shining achievement in life. He was the best husband a woman could ever have – loyal, faithful, best friend – Hal was Dana’s whole world. He will be missed by so many.

Hal is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dana; sons Brad, Ross and Neil; daughter Andrea; sister Ruth Tucker and her husband Jimmy; brother David and his wife Donna; a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Hal is preceded in death by his father Fred; mother, Joan; and sister Paula.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hal’s doctors, Dr. Gauri Varadhachary and Dr. Dickson; nurse Kaitlin, nurse Rita, nurse Yaa and nurse Emily who treated him with such respect and dignity throughout his illness. The family is also grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt forms.

A celebration of Hal’ s life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 am at The Church on Master’s Road in Manvel, Texas with a reception following at the church. Pastor Jason Lee will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to The American Cancer Society, (donate3.cancer.org) or Association of Former Students at Texas A&M University, (tx.ag/memorialgiving) in memory of Hal.

“You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful person I have ever known – and even that is an understatement.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald.
