Huel "Tuck" Clive Tucker

Huel C. Tucker

Huel C. Tucker, 96,was born May [3], 1921, and passed away August 25, 2017, following complications from an earlier stroke. Mr. Tucker was known to many as “Tuck”. He was a resident of Longview, TX, and is survived by his wife of 69 years, Clarine Smith Tucker. Huel was preceded in death by his parents, Uriah and VeraElla Tucker and is one of six boys his parents had. Huel and Clarine had no children but he leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Huel was born and grew up in Mineola, TX, and served in the U.S. Marines from December 1941 to December 1945, and reached Platoon Sargent. He was awarded both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He married Clarine on June 6, 1948, and following his discharge from the service, attended Texas A&M University where he earned an Electrical Engineering Degree in 1953, and attended Graduate school in 1954, from Texas A&M. Following his graduation from college he went to work for Monsanto and traveled and lived in Texas, Florida and St. Louis, MO. They last lived in Florida before relocating back to Longview where they had family to be around during retirement. Both he and his wife, Clarine were active in ballroom dancing, attending annual events where they were known for being perfectionist on the floor. They also spent many years in the pursuit of genealogy of their family names. An extensive research library is compiled and one day will be available to the public at the library in Gilmer, where Clarine grew up.

Graveside services will be held at the Floyd Cemetery located off CR 1650 in the Indian Rock Community, on Friday, September 8th at 3PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Floyd Cemetery Association at 5675 Bob White Rd., Gilmer, Texas 75645 for upkeep. No formal visitation will be held.
