Michael W. Wooley
1961 - 2017

Michael W. Wooley, age 55, of Brewster, New York, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Brewster, NY.
Born September 9, 1961, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of Marion Wooley of Canton, MI and the late Warren T. Wooley.
Michael married Lynn Rickard on June 21, 1996 at West Point, NY.
Michael graduated from schools in Canton, MI and received a bachelors degree in science and a rank of Lieutenant from the USMA at West Point, NY. He then received his Masters in Military History from Texas A&M, College Station, TX
Michael served in the US Army from 1984 to 1995 where rose to the rank of Captain. During the last two years in the Army, Michael returned to the USMA at West Point, NY as an instructor of Military History. He later taught at various schools including the Contemporary Arts High School in the Bronx from 2001 to the present. During this time, Michael was also the School Chapter Leader for the UFT, (The United Federation of Teachers Union).
Michael simply loved military history, often visiting Civil War battlefields.
Besides his wife Lynn and his mother Marion, Michael is survived by his daughter Kaitlyn and his son Michael, both of Brewster and his two brothers, Richard Wooley of Missouri and Tom Wooley of Canton, MI.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 7:00pm at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster. A private cremation will be held the next day. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 8pm.
