Glen Whit Smith
July 12, 1946 - August 29, 2017

Glen Whit Smith passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, in Katy, Texas, at the age of 71 after a long-term battle with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS).
Glen was born on July 12, 1946, in Houston, Texas, to Wiley Whit Smith and Hattie Sue Kleckley Smith. Glen lived in Houston, Texas, until early adulthood. He attended Texas A&M and graduated from the University of Houston. On June 15, 1968, he married Elaine Devon Goss in Houston, a union lasting almost 50 years. In 1971, Glen & Elaine moved to Austin, Texas, where Glen spent his career in Information Technology for both the Austin Independent School District & the City of Austin. Glen & Elaine moved to Round Rock, Texas, in 1980, where they built a life around friends, church activities at First United Methodist Church in Round Rock, and their daughters’ many interests. In 2015, Glen & Elaine moved to Katy, Texas, to be closer to family in the Houston area. Glen became an active member of the Fulshear First United Methodist Church.
During his life, Glen enjoyed his family, fishing, sports, including golfing and basketball, and playing bridge. He was an Aggie football fan, as well as a member of the 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M University.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold Don Smith, sister, Sherry Smith, and his beloved wife. He is survived by his daughters Remington Smith, Whitney Smith and son-in-law Scott Smith; granddaughters Abigail and Reagan Smith; and many more wonderful family including five brothers, one sister, nieces, nephews, and friends. Glen is also survived by his devoted chocolate lab companion, Kirby.
A memorial service will be held September 18, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on North Mays in Round Rock, Texas.
