Anthony "Tony" Vessakosol
January 12, 1966 - August 25, 2017

Anthony “Tony” Victor Vessakosol, two-year resident of Rockwall, TX, passed away unexpectedly August 25, 2017, at the age of 51. He was born January 12, 1966, in Gladewater, TX, to Virothai “Vic” Vessakosol and Floy Jeanne (Meadows) Vessakosol. Tony grew up and attended high school in Humble, TX, played baseball for Blinn Junior College, and later went on to play baseball and graduate from Texas Christian University. He received his master’s degree from Texas A & M. Tony was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He was also a member of Gideons International and First Baptist Church of Rockwall.

Beginning in 1989, Tony devoted twenty-nine years to education and coaching. He was head high school baseball coach in Somerville, TX, for four years, and later became head high school baseball coach and assistant principal in Cold Springs, TX. Tony served as elementary principal for 21 years with Rains ISD, Forney ISD, Irving ISD and Grand Prairie ISD. Tony also scouted for the Padres from 1997 to 2006, and scouted for the New York Mets from 2006 to 2009.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years: Donnessa (Myers) Vessakosol; daughters: Halley and Addison; parents: Vic and Floy Vessakosol; sister: Krista Hibbs and husband Dr. Doug; brother: Timmy Vessakosol; sisters-in-law: Amanda Henry and husband David and Jennifer Fernandez and husband Steve; and brother-in-law: Steven Myers and wife Stephanie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Helen Hope Hibbs, Joey Henry, Ann Henry, Elena Fernandez, Natalie Fernandez, Emily Fernandez, and Caelan Myers; United States relatives: Frances Cox and husband John, Lynda Meadows, Mona Puntoompoti and husband Watt, Gary Cox, Christopher Meadows and wife Rebecca, Ben Puntoompoti, Tom Puntoompoti, Janice Cline and husband Nathan; and Thailand relatives: Vorovit Vessakosol, Jitbordee Vessakosol, General Aiyarat Vessakosol and wife Dr. Pimpan, Charupat Aegintumas and husband Tawen, Thanit Vessakosol and wife Ungsana, Sisaya Kusolpuchong and husband Kasem, Pawarit Vessakosol and wife Gift, Major Peyarat Vessakosol, Go Aegintumas, Egg Aegintumas, Egkasuet Vessakosol, Korkiat Vessakosol, Nilobol and Dr. Vit, Major Siwapong Kusolpuchong, Nob Vessakosol and Thanawan Suthisomboo.

Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents: Floyd and Willa Mae Meadows and Governor Kiat and Samorn Vessakosol; uncles: Todd Vessakosol and Charles Meadows; and cousins: Bryan Meadows, John Wayne Cox, Jr., Lek Vessakosol, and Yai Vessakosol.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad St., Rockwall, TX, 75087 with Pastor Steve Swofford officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00pm in Friendship Cemetery, 28805 County Road 3107, Gladewater, TX, 75647. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
