Perry A. Beaty Jr.
March 11, 1932 - August 28, 2017

Perry A. Beaty Jr., 85, of Georgetown, passed away on August 28, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a Reception following at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the Chapel of the Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78633.

Perry was the son of Perry A. and Ruth Elizabeth (Leckie) Beaty, born on March 11, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas.

Perry grew up in Austin and Corpus Christi Texas before attending Texas A&M University and receiving his Bachelor Of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering (Class of ’53). After graduating he served in the United States Air Force as a pilot from 1954-1957 and reserves until 1962. Primary flight training was accomplished at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi. From there he graduated with single engine (T-28) and Jet aircraft (T-33 “Shooting Star”) training in Big Spring, TX. Perry was ultimately assigned to SAC-Strategic Air Command, 335th Bomber Squadron as a pilot for (B-36 “Peacemaker”), a strategic bomber and largest piston-engine aircraft ever built, (B-25 “Mitchell”) and (C-45 “Expeditor”) aircrafts.

Perry was discharged from the Air Force and went to work for Central Power & Light Co. for 37 years. He spent part of his career as superintendent of the power plant in Victoria, TX, then became plant manager/superintendent overseeing the entire construction and operations of the Coleto Creek Coal Power Plant located west of Victoria. The final years of his career were spent as the Director of Generating Operations overseeing (10) power plants and retired in 1994 in Corpus Christi. Perry and Jo Ann spent their early yrs of retirement in Victoria and the past 18 yrs in Georgetown. He enjoyed traveling with Jo Ann in their 5th-wheel RV, playing golf, being in the Baptist Choir, the Kiwanis Club and the Aviation Club.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Perry, Sr. and Ruth Beaty.

Survivors include: loving wife, Jo Ann Beaty of Sun City, TX; sons: David (Jan) Beaty of Houston, Steven (Darla) Beaty of Temple; grandsons: Justin and Garrett (Rachael) Beaty of Temple, David Beaty, Jr. of Houston; step-grandson Trey Braniff of Houston; great-grandson: Kaiden Beaty of Temple; brother: James (Dora) Beaty of Corpus Christi; nephew James Mark Beaty and family of Austin, niece Susan (Beaty) Hagstrom and family of Longview; sister-in-law: Peggy Brownlee and niece Sunny Dai Brownlee of Columbus, MS.

Memorial donations can be made in Perry’s name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
