Sandy was born on March 12, 1949 in Auburn, NY. She graduated Valedictorian from Bentley High School in Livonia, MI in 1967. Sandy earned a BA in English Education from Michigan State University in 1971, member Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi, and a Master of Education from Texas A&M University in 1979. She began her career teaching junior high classes in Lake Zurich, IL, then moved on to senior high in Columbia, MO before moving on again to the college freshman level at Texas A&M. After Sandy moved back to Trumansburg, NY, she spent a few years as a hostess at Taughannock Farms Inn before resuming her career in education at Cornell University. Sandy ultimately finished her career in education after seven years as the Director of the Master of Management in Hospitality at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration. She was happiest when hosting student gatherings at her house on Cayuga Lake.

Sandy had many other loves as well. She loved to travel to visit with family and friends, or celebrate with family visiting at Owasco Lake. She enjoyed reading and antiquing (even starting her own business, Swansdown Antiques). Sandy also enjoyed holiday and Super Bowl get-togethers, playing board games, winning the pool, and of course, she loved her cats - most recently, her closest companion, Ali!

Sandy is survived by her father and stepmother, William (Shirley) Fredenburg of Clifton Springs; brothers, Dale Fredenburg of Kansas City, MO, and Richard (Patricia) Fredenburg of Seneca Falls; stepbrothers, Craig Hansen of Seattle, WA, and Lynn Hansen of Geneva; nieces and nephews: Denice (Peter) Romano (children Taylor and Kendall), Diana (Terry) O’Leary (children Samantha, Sydney, Connor, and Colin), Jeremy Fredenburg, Sr. (children Jeremy, Jr. and Aleasha), Rachel (Daniel) Bowser, and Brian (Evie) Fredenburg; many aunts, uncles and cousins, especially close aunt, Nadia Klock (children Laurie, Brian, and Bradley); and special friends, Cindy Foss, and Tim and Linda Harlan.

Sandy is preceded in death by her dear mother, Nona Fredenburg; and close uncle, Earle Klock.
