Mr. Tom Ben Williams
January 14, 1930 - August 20, 2017

Funeral services for Mr. Tom Ben Williams, 87, of Carthage, Texas were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Steven Wiggins officiating. Burial followed in Woods Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Williams passed away August 20, 2017 in Carthage.
Mr. Tom Ben Williams was born January 14, 1930 in Gary, Texas. He was one of two sons born to Thomas Samuel and Mary Ollie Brannon Williams. He attended Gary schools where he participated in basketball and graduated with the class of 1947. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1951. Tom Ben enjoyed raising cattle and was a member the American International Charolaise Association and the American International Charolaise Junior Association, through which he helped youth in Future Farmers of America. He took great pleasure in working with students participating in livestock shows. Active also in community service, Tom Ben served as past president of the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, and he held membership at the Church of Christ in Carthage. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Randolf Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Joan Williams of Carthage; one daughter, Margo Williams of Texarkana; two sons, Mark Williams of Carthage, and Daniel Williams of Little Elm, Texas; five grandchildren, Mia McDougal of Texarkana, Eve Wiley and husband Blake of Dallas, Joanna Reed and husband Alex of Greenville, Joshua Williams and Kara Williams, both of Little Elm; three great grandchildren, Hutton Wiley, Scarlet Wiley, and Jacob Pender; and a host of other relatives and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Smith, Dan Williams, Mark Williams, Joshua Williams, Michael Collins, Billy Joe Williams, Charles Bailey, and John Warren.
