ALLENSON, Vincent J., age 92 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosa (Spetz) Allenson and siblings: Bob, Carl, Linda, John, Ted, Vera (Peterson), Alma (DeSantis), Dick, Roy. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Sue (Moorman) Allenson, son John and Kris (Shellum) Allenson, daughter Carol Allenson, grandson Max Allenson, sisters In-Law Dorothy Allenson and Sharon Moorman, as well as a wealth of cousins, nieces and nephews. Vince grew up in Sugar Grove, PA and graduated from Sugar Grove Joint Vocational High School. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force, was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War and retired as a Major, after a 22 year career. Vince obtained a teaching degree from Edinboro State University and an engineering degree from Texas A&M University. After the Air Force, Vince worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a facilities engineer for another 30 years. Vince enjoyed spending his time with his family and looked forward to making regular visits to his home town of Sugar Grove. Family vacations were also a source of great pleasure. Vince was an avid golfer, playing as often as possible early spring through late fall every year. Vince was a long time member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Dayton, OH. Friends may call from4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – FAR HILLS CHAPEL, Dayton, Ohio and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, Centerville, Ohio, with the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, Ohio.
