James Stephen Tachias
November 25, 1937 - August 13, 2017

Jim Tachias passed away on August 13, 2017, in Waxahachie, TX. Jim was born in Waco, TX on November 25, 1937 to Jim and Ella Tachias. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Janice Wallace, plus many more aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim graduated from the famous class of 1955 Waco High Tigers. Jim attended Texas A&M from 1955 to 1956. He then attended Baylor University from 1957 to 1959, graduating with a BBA degree.

Jim married his high school sweetheart Frances Smith in 1959. Frances and Jim had two children – Kathy who lives with her husband Ed in San Francisco, and Jim who lives in Longview Texas.

Jim loved to hunt doves and fish. Jim and Frances divided their time between their home in Dallas and their Lake Cypress Springs lake house. Frances died of heart disease in 1997.
Jim began his career in the computer industry in 1959 for Burroughs Corporation – the second largest computer company in the world at the time. Jim worked at the same company for 43 years, holding a number of different sales and management jobs.

Jim met the second love of his life – Barbara Splawn – and remarried in October of 2000. Jim and Barbara moved to Waxahachie in 2005. Jim and Barbara are members of FBC Waxahachie where they are active. Both are members of the Fellowship Class. Jim spent several years as a fundraiser for several groups. He was also the turf grass specialist for Ellis County AG agent.

Jim leaves a special family of son Jim, daughter Kathy (Ed), wife Barbara, stepsons David (Carla) and Dean Splawn and very special grandson Wil Splawn and granddaughter Skylar Martin. Jim also leaves a very special family of brother and sister-in-law Michael and Betty Simmons, their children Kim and Bob Woods, Ken Woods, and Bryan and Gretta Simmons, niece Marsha Wallace Lawson (Bob) and nephews Mark (Judy) Wallace and Doug (Loretta) Wallace.
Pall bearers will be Doug Wallace, Larry Splawn, Andy Splawn, Matthew Splawn, Brian Simmons, Bob Woods and Ken Woods.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Waxahachie at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 with Rev. Jeff Moran officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
