Matthew Curtis "Matt" Retzloff
1991 - 2017

Matthew Curtis Retzloff, 25, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Gary Richardson. Matthew is survived by his parents, Kevin and Kay Retzloff; sister, Kristen Retzloff; grandmother, Kathleen Richardson; grandparents, Larry and Ronnie Retzloff; aunts and uncles, Joe and Lisa Richardson and Chris and Jennifer Retzloff; cousins, Kayla Richardson, Dustin Richardson, Chad Retzloff and Chelsea Retzloff; and a host of many other family and dear friends.

Matt took great pride in being a Texas Aggie and loved his fraternity “Pi Kappa Phi”. He was extremely social and found great pleasure in being around the Kemah Palms support group. Matt was a natural leader and enjoyed organizing events, ensuring that everyone would enjoy themselves. His greatest pleasure was his love of cooking spicy dishes. Matt and his friend Ryan Hightower recently competed and won first place in the Kemah Palms alumni chili cookoff. His belief was the hotter the better when it came to prepare a meal. He loved to debate issues and would sneakily change sides in the middle of the argument to leave you confused on what you might be debating. Matt embraced and fought his battle with alcoholism and showed incredible courage and perseverance as he battled against his struggles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Matt's name to the Kemah Palms Alumni Group at 1013 Delesandri Lane, Kemah, Texas 77565, 713-568-1210.

Services for Matthew will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will take place from 12:00 until 1:00 pm with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm with pastor Keith Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Alvin Confederate Cemetery, in Alvin, Texas.
