Charles Ray "Charlie" King
July 8, 1932 – August 14, 2017

Charles (Charlie) Ray King passed away August 14, 2017 surrounded by his family. Charlie was born on June 6, 1932 in Roanoke, Texas to Charlie David and Zora Vernon King. He moved to Irving as a child and graduated from Irving High School in 1949. Charlie went on to graduate from Texas A&M in 1953, where he served in the Corp’ and afterwards served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Iceland. Following his military service, Charlie began work for LTV/Vought where he spent 41 years in aircraft design. More importantly, Charlie married the love of his life, Peggy (Chambers) King on May 2, 1959 and these two recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Charlie was a coach, a mentor, a referee, a softball umpire, an engineer, a computer whiz, a classic Mustang owner, a decades long Dallas Cowboy season ticket holder and most importantly, a loving and caring father to Terri and Chuck and grandfather to Lily, Keenan, Levi and Adrian. Following his retirement from Vought/Northrup Gruman, Charlie was active in the Vought retiree club and he and Peggy enjoyed going to the horse races at Lone Star Park and visiting his kids and grandkids in Austin and Salt Lake City. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Peggy, his daughter Terri King Lins and her husband Karl of Salt Lake City, UT, his son Charles (Chuck) King and his wife Tracy of Austin, TX and his grandchildren Lily King, Keenan Lins, Levi King and Adrian Lins, his sister Wanda Bush and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday August 17, 2017 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Little Bethel Memorial Park in Duncanville, Texas.
