James Michael Beardsley
DECEMBER 14, 1960 - AUGUST 6, 2017

James Michael (Mike) Beardsley departed to live with the Lord on August 6th, 2017 after suffering a long and debilitating illness. Mike was born on December 14, 1960, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After graduating from Holt High School in Michigan in 1979, he moved to Texas. He obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston, a Master’s in Political Science from Texas A&M and a MBA from the University of Texas. Mike retired from the Department of State, taught at Temple University in Tokyo, and can take claim to building several complexes in downtown Austin.

Mike travelled extensively and was an avid softball player, both in the US and abroad. He was a deeply devoted father, son, brother, and uncle who always loved to be surrounded by family. He greatly enjoyed playing all kinds of games, especially Euchre and those that were mentally challenging.

Mike is survived by his wife, Reiko Beardsley, and six children: Rebecca, Nicholas, Alyssa, Mikala, Sean and Courtney Beardsley. He is also survived by his parents: Peggy Metzger of Texas and James (and Eleanora) Beardsley of Delaware, and his siblings: Janet (and Jack) Kinney, Stephanie (and Steve) Kerpsack, and Steven (and Regina) Beardsley. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews of which all spent a lot of time either climbing on or being held by Uncle Mike.

Services will be held at Beck Funeral Chapels, Pflugerville, Texas, and Friday, August 11th at 2:00 pm.
