Eugene Cloy Buie
March 15, 1936 - July 14, 2017

HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA, Rev. Dr. Eugene Cloy Buie, Jr., 81, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017.
Pastor Gary Howell of Ocoee, Fla. will be officiating.

Gene was born March 15, 1936 in Amarillo, Texas and was the son of the late Eugene Cloy Buie, Sr. and Lucile Stocks Buie. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1954. Dr. Buie was a minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and served Christ as a true shepherd to his flock at Antioch Christian Church, Vienna, Va., from 1993 to 2008 before retirement to Harrisonburg, Va. He was a graduate of Texas A&M (BA), Texas Christian University (MDiv) and Virginia Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry). Prior to his pastoral ministry, he served the Church as a lay educator while working in the public and private sectors in real estate development and management in Fort Worth and Tarrant County and served two terms as mayor of Everman, Texas, as well as eight years in the U.S. Army Reserve. Dr. Buie was a frequent contributor of commentaries in the Daily News Record of Harrisonburg, Virginia and enjoyed the continued study and learning of scripture in its earliest Hebrew and Greek forms. Dr. Buie passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family.
Survivors: Loving wife of 58 years, Johannah Elizabeth; sons, James and wife, Vickie of North Richland Hills, Kevin and wife, Kristie of Houston and Randy of Rockingham County, Va.; sister, Judith Ann Throckmorton of Rockingham County, Va., and her family; and six grandsons.
