Bart U. Haltom, a respected veteran, educator and golf professional, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
Born in Bryan, Texas on Sept. 2, 1923, he lettered in golf and football at Texas A & M, Class of 1946. His college days were interrupted by World War II. He served in the South Pacific with the Army Air Corp. After the war he finished his education and taught math at Diamond-Hill High School where he is loved and remembered by former students. A lifetime member of the PGA, Bart was the Head Pro at Rockwood Golf Course for 20 years, and enjoyed playing competitively at the highest level. He played in the US Open and PGA Championship, on the PGA Tour.
Survivors: Wife of 17 years, Jerri; her four children; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and his daughter, Kim.
