William Curtis "Billy" Henderson

William Curtis "Billy" Henderson Jr., 68, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Dallas, TX at Baylor Heart & Vascular Hospital. Billy was born in Corsicana, TX on November 2, 1948, he was the son of Frances Ann (Tate) and William Curtis Henderson. He received his Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a proud member of the Class of '72. Billy retired from the Texas Department of Agriculture after 38 years of service in both Abilene and Austin, TX. Billy had a passion for hunting, fishing, and all things Texas A&M but his greatest love was his love of the Lord. He was a man of strong faith and morals, as well as a devout member of the Church of Christ. His love for Christ was displayed through the kindness and compassion he gave to all he met. He was sweet, thoughtful, selfless, and had a way of making anyone he came in contact with feel as if they were the most important person in the room. Needless to say, he never met a stranger. Billy had unconditional love for his friends and family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Everyone lost a great man with a tremendous heart, but the Lord could not go another day without him. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 His parents preceded him in death. Billy is survived by his son, Chad Henderson and wife Katy of Frisco, TX; his daughter, Jennifer Henderson of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, Riley, Gentry and Conley Henderson; sister, Candy Eckert and husband Tommy of Mason, TX; and two nephews, Kyle Eckert and wife Salah, and Kody Eckert and wife Jacki, all of Mason, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Buffalo Gap Church of Christ with King Burney officiating, directed by the Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in his hometown, Junction, TX at Junction City Cemetery. There will be no visitation scheduled.
