Walter Moore Kilgo
KILGO, Walter Moore Walter "Walt" Moore Kilgo of Dallas, age 83, died Thursday July 6th, after a short illness. Walt's family moved permanently to Texas when he was 14 years old. He graduated from El Paso High School and continued his education at Texas A & M University where he earned a degree in 1955 in petroleum engineering. While at Texas A & M he was a member of Corps of Cadets, Company B. He was a commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and served with distinction. After discharge from the United States Army Walt was employed by Standard Oil as a field engineer in Permian Basin of West Texas. Following this employment and throughout the rest of his life he was engaged in various oil and gas ventures in Texas and New Mexico. He accumulated several royalty and working interests throughout his life. Walt was a true Texas oil man. Walt was an ardent outdoorsman, runner, bicyclist, snow skier and hunter. He hunted with friends on four continents and was known to be an excellent wing shot. If one was lucky enough to be hosted by this gentle man in a hunting camp, you would be privileged to see the working of one of his fine retrievers. Following a successful hunt you were to be treated to his accomplished preparation of a post hunt celebration of milk punch followed by roast duck, roasted root vegetables and bread pudding. His parents pre-deceased him. In addition to many lifelong friends, he is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Frederickson Kilgo, a former Asst. United States Attorney in the Northern district of Texas, his daughter Katy Jackson and her husband Steele Jackson of Charlotte, North Carolina and three grandchildren; Ally Massoud of Dallas, Kent and Logan Jackson of Charlotte, North Carolina.
