AUGUST 2, 1945 - JULY 5, 2017
Edward Dwayne Fehler passed from this life to our heavenly Father July 5, 2017, at the age of 71. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Sunday July 9, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 S. Tyler in McGregor. Interment will follow at St. Paul Memorial Park in Crawford, under the direction of Grace Gardens Funeral Home. A visitation will be 1:00-3:00 pm Sunday at the church.
Mr. Fehler was born August 2, 1945, in Waco, Texas, the only child of the late Herbert and Alice Wiese Fehler. He was a 1963 graduate of Crawford High School. In 1968, he earned a degree in Ag Economics from Texas A&M University. On July 27, 1968, he married the love of his life Diane Mayfield Fehler. From this union came Kimberly Diane Fehler, and Stephen Edward Fehler.
Ed worked for First National Bank, McGregor before going into full time farming and ranching in 1974 with his college roommate Tom McPherson. In 1979, Ed and Tom purchased McGregor Farm Center and later Nelson Feed Mill. Ed managed these until the mill was closed and sold the business in 2007. He retired in 2013.
Ed was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was active in the life of his church; teaching Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Congregation, and a choir member. He was a member of McLennan County Farm Bureau board where he several years as its president. Other organizations he was active in were McGregor JC’s, Lions Club and McGregor Visioning Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Diane, a daughter Kimberly Fehler; a son Stephen Fehler and wife Casey; three grandchildren Kody Fehler, Makenna Fehler, and Hannah Fehler.
Pallbearers; Burt Gohlke, Jeff Luedeker, Kelly Mayfield, Kevin Neal, Mike Olson, Tom Waitley. Honorary Pallbearers; cousins.
