Kristi Michelle Johnson Henry, M.Ed.

June 6, 1967 - June 13, 2017

Kristi Michelle Johnson Henry of Anahuac passed away Tuesday June 13, 2017. She was born in Port Arthur on June 6, 1967 to Dolores Johnson and the late James Johnson. A former resident of Fannett, Texas, Kristi attended Angelo State University then proceeded to earn her Masters Degree at Texas A&M University. Whoop! Kristi then began a lifelong career in the field of Education at Anahuac Independent School District. She spent the first eleven years in the classroom as an 8th grade English teacher while coaching track, basketball, and volleyball and still to this day managing to be the only person to win district in all three girls sports. She then went on to become the Middle School Counselor and held that position for 16 years. In these 27 years Kristi touched countless lives, changed the course of many, and inspired hope in all of us. Kristi’s unselfishness and dedication to others has been witnessed by many through the years. She never sought recognition for any of the deeds that she performed, only happiness and success in the faces of others.

Kristi’s greatest pleasure however, was her family and her faith. A loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, Kristi was a faithful member, eucharistic minister, lector, and CCD teacher of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fannett, Texas. It was through her faith that she wed her wonderful husband, Tommy Henry and raised two beautiful children, Anne-Marie and James Thomas. Some of Kristi’s greatest enjoyments included spending time with her family and working on the family farm. She was always in attendance at any event that her kids were participating and always supported the other kids in the community with positive praise and her beautiful smile. She loved taking her weekly ride in the Kubota with Tommy after church on Sunday’s to check on the cows at the family farm. Spring time was her favorite time of year because of calving season. Her genuine honesty and sincerity made lifelong impressions on everyone she encountered. The life of this beautiful Aggie was a very simple yet gratifying one.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy Henry; daughter, Anne-Marie Lee Henry; son, James Thomas Aaron Henry, all of Anahuac; stepdaughter, Emily Marie Henry Cauthen and her husband, Chad, of Austin; mother, Dolores Higginbotham Johnson of Fannett; brothers, James Earl Johnson, Jr., M.D. and his wife, Kimberly Lynn, of Weatherford and Cody Wayne Johnson, Esq. and his wife, Tracey, of Santa Fe, Texas; and nieces and nephews, James Earl Johnson III, Mary Bonner Johnson, Joan Carol Johnson, and Noah Lafayette Johnson.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Earl Johnson, Sr.

A Rosary for Mrs. Henry will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of her family and friends to follow, Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Fannett. Her interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery, Fannett.
