Burton Ray Hermann, 80, of College Station, beloved husband and father went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2017. Services are set for 11 am, Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with Joel Hein officiating and other sharing memories
of Burt. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Cremation Centers Bryan-College Station.
Burt was born on March 20, 1937, on a farm between Cooks Point and Caldwell, to Harry and Rose (Faust) Hermann. The family moved to Bryan in 1949, where Burt attended S.F.A High School and graduated in 1954. In 1956, he met the love of his life Virginia Thiltgen
and was joined in marriage in 1958 and was later blessed with 2 wonderful children; Melodie who was born in 1965, followed by a son, Alan born in 1968. Burt served his county for three years in the U.S. Army stationed mostly in Fort Sill, Oklahoma in the late
50’s.
Burt and Virginia later moved back to Bryan-College Station in 1959, where he attended Texas A&M and received his Bachelors of Art degree in 1963 while continuing his passion for teaching he returned back to receive his master degree in 1965 and his Ph.D. in
1973. Burt taught mostly history at S.F.A in Bryan, Tyler Jr. College and Blinn College in Brenham. At this time, Virginia also earned her “PHT” (Putting hubby through) by working at the banks. Above all Burt loved his Lord and family with all his heart and
soul. He encouraged others to do the same and leave their part of the world a better place.
His brothers, Marvin and Leburn Hermann; his sister Doris Hermann; his parents Harry and Rosie Hermann, all preceded Burt in death.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Virginia; their dear children Melodie Hermann of College Station and Alan Hermann of Fort Worth.
