Alexander Brailas, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in New Braunfels, Texas. He was a Lamar High School graduate in Houston, Texas. He was a graduate of Texas A&M College, class of '52, and a member of the Corps of Cadets. Alex was an Architect Emeritus. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects. During his career with Caudill Rowlett Scott Architectural Firm, Alex travelled the world with project design, later to work independently. Prior to retirement he became Director of Planning for the Harris County Hospital District. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Jolynn McDannald Brailas. Alex is survived by his children, Felicia Brailas Locke and husband Greg, Christine Brailas French, Alexandra Schoenemann and husband Brian, and Nicholas Brailas and wife Staci; grandchildren Cody Wood and wife Ashley, Kit Wood and wife Stacey, James French, Ashley Schoenemann Tuttle and husband Jeff, Kyle Schoenemann; great grandchildren Hallie, Sadie, and Leddy Jolynn Wood, longtime companion Jo Ann Meyers, and numerous cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 10, from 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Park Lawndale Grand Chapel with the Reverend Father Demitri Tagaropulos. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
